Each year, the Archdiocese of Newark recognizes an Outstanding Catholic School Graduate from each Catholic School. An Outstanding Catholic School Graduate is recognized for their academic excellence, service to school and community, extracurricular activities and dedication to their Catholic faith. St. Francis Academy is delighted to announce that Sophia Anne Thomas, Class of 2021, has been chosen for this honor.
Sophia has clearly shown her leadership ability, academic prowess and deep faith life during her years at St. Francis Academy. Sophia has been an altar server, lector, and Leader of Song in her home parish of St. Anne’s, Hoboken, and has served as cantor and lector at St. Francis Academy’s many liturgies. During the pandemic Sophia organized and arranged prayer services for the St. Francis Academy Community. Sophia’s compassion and care for those in need has led her to become involved with fundraisers which benefit CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates for children.
Sophia is a valued member of our choir “Jubilate Deo” and has been a frequent soloist. Sophia is also Editor in Chief of our school newspaper “Eye of the Tiger”. She has frequently performed on stage in a variety of musicals and was instrumental in raising $14,000 for the Hoboken Theater group.
Everyone at St. Francis Academy celebrates Sophia as Outstanding Graduate. Sophia will be attending Convent of the Sacred Heart, NYC in the fall.
