St. Francis Academy follows the guidelines of the Archdiocese of Newark. Our curriculum goal is to develop the academic, spiritual, social, moral, emotional and physical aspects of our students. All our curriculum and methods are permeated with Christ’s teachings bringing every member of St. Francis Academy into full participation in the Body of Christ, the Church. We believe in the dignity of each child and therefore attempt to tailor our curriculum and methods to the needs of each student.
The following subjects must be completed successfully by every student: Religion, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics and Language Arts. Failure to meet this requirement could mean retention or summer school attendance. Every effort is made by the administration, faculty and staff of St. Francis Academy to ensure the success of each student.
The following minor subjects studied by all are important in the the total enrichment and development of each child: Art, Music, Foreign Language, Physical Education, Computers, and Library Skills.
The schools of the Archdiocese of Newark have begun a curriculum mapping project which will result in the development of subject area curriculum maps that clearly articulate the content and skills students will be learning in each subject in each grade level. Curriculum mapping is a process that helps schools and districts/ dioceses to determine the “agreed-upon” learning for all students. This process is being undertaken to ensure that a consistent, clearly articulated curriculum infused with Gospel values is being provided to all students in our schools.
