First Week of School at SFA: Sept. 9-17, 2010

SFA Family members have been busy already in our first week of school. We opened the week with a mass on Friday, September 10, 2010. A kick-off ice cream social party followed later that evening.

The school choir delivered beautiful renditions of religious songs during our opening mass, which was officiated by Fr. Vincent Fortunato, OFM. The second graders were introduced in their “Holy Communion Year”.

A pre-K student played with his balloon while our school president Sr. Dora enjoyed her ice cream during our kick-off party Friday night.

On Tuesday night, September 14, 2010, we held our first Parents’ Guild Meeting at school auditorium where our school principal Ms. Savage discussed a couple of school rules and policies. Parents also had the chance to meet our faculty and staff.

Our special classes also have begun. Students have their gym classes every Friday on our playground.

These are just a few of our activities, and there will be a lot of fun and learning as the year progresses. One is our Annual FUN FAIR, which will take place on Friday, September 24, 2010, right here at St. Francis Academy.

Hotdog and Ice Cream Social

The school year will be officially over and what a better way to say goodbye to our friends and hello to summer! Come and join us for the last event of this school year! This event will be held on Friday, June 18th, 2010 beginning 6:00 PM and ending at 9:00PM in the backyard of St. Francis Academy. NO RAIN DATE!

Admission is $8.00 per person! This admission includes 1 hotdog, 1 bottle of water and a choice of a Cone, Popsicle or Slushy.

Hotdogs will be served throughout the evening. The ice cream will ONLY be served between 7:00PM – 8:00PM. Don’t miss this treat!

We will also be having our last official 50/50 raffle. Winner will be announced at 8:30PM and winner must be present!

Tickets will NOT be sold in advance. Tickets will ONLY be available at the door. Entrance to the event will be at the side entrance on 16th street.

So stop on by to share some laughter and music with us all!

SFA’s First Week of School

How did the first week of school at St. Francis go? Busy, educational, and fun week for everyone!

Full day session started last Monday (Sept. 14) along with the After Care Enrichment (ACE) Program. The first Parents’ Guild Meeting was held Tuesday night (Sept. 15) and Ms. Savage discussed the school rules and policies. (By the way, don’t forget to read her September newsletter HERE)

The students had all the subjects including their specials (Music, French, Arts, Gym, and Computer).

We also grabbed some hotdog and ice cream during our first Ice Cream Social last Friday (Sept. 18) and held a Flea Market the day after (Sept 19).

WHAT’S NEXT?

We’re going to have our annual FUN FAIR on the last Friday (Sept 25) of the month. The week after that, the school will celebrate the Feast of St. Francis after we bless the animals.
