On April 30, 2010, students of St. Francis Academy received Sports Excellence Award from Union City.

The first ever Sports Excellence Awards Ceremony was held at the Union City Performing Arts Center located at 2500 Kennedy Boulevard in Union City. Five (5) SFA students received the award from the city.

…Commissioner Irizarry, director of recreation, says: “We are honoring more than athletic abilities, we will be honoring positive character and commitment. This is an opportunity for us to highlight our student athletes, their families, and our coaches….”

April 24, 2010, Jersey City – St. Francis Academy’s Forensics Team placed second after competing in the Forensics tournament held at Hudson Catholic Regional High School.

Forensics is a drama competition where students from grades 5-8 interpret a playwright’s, novelist’s, speechwriter’s or poet’s intention or purpose. It is important for competitors to use full range of voice, be believable, give the appearance of spontaneity, and possess confidence and poise. All in a matter of 5-8 minutes!

Our Forensics team competed at Hudson Catholic Regional High School on April 24th. We are proud of all our competitors and all their success! Thank you for your hard work and dedication to the team!

April 15, 2010 – Seventh grade attended the Scholastic Olympics at Marist High School in Bayonne. St. Francis Academy won first place overall. Many thanks to all the teachers who helped the students prepare.

St. Francis Academy Grade 8 students obtained prominent scholarships amounting to more than $350,000 from various high schools.
