Photos and Videos: 6th Annual Walkathon 2012

May 11, 2012 – The weather –sunny and breezy – was perfect for our 6th Annual Walkathon. Supervised by the teachers and volunteer parents, the students walked several blocks chanting “SFA is the best!” before reaching the playground of Jose Marti.

A short prayer service preceded the event. The school Student Council led the short prayer service as our award-winning school choir sang beautiful praise songs.

We gathered in front of the school and walked around the blocks to Jose Marti on 21st Street. This year’s walkathon is the second time our school had used Jose Marti’s field.

Thank you very much to all the teachers, Sisters, and parents who made this fun-filled event possible. Special thanks to the Union City Police Department for escorting and giving us safety the entire time.

1st Place in Queen of Peace HS Jeopardy

Conrgatulations, Team "Brain Train"

November 19, 2011 – North Arlington, NJ – Team “Brain Train” placed first in 8th grade Jeopardy Competition at Queen of Peace High School, triumphing over 20 teams from various schools in Hudson and Bergen Counties.

The Saints Play 2011

Nov. 7 & 9, 2011 – Grades 6th, 7th, and 8th students wrote their own scripts and portrayed a saint’s life with the supervision of their teachers. The plays were acted out in the auditorium in front of the Franciscan sisters, students, and parents.

From Ryan, Grade 7:

“Each play showed the saint’s life or good deed. I learned from the play that you should always stand up for what you believe in, no matter what happens. You should always be strong in your faith…”

Bulb Planting Fall 2011

Ms. Savage, Grade 8, and Pre-K bless the bulbs before planting

October 11, 2011 – Grade 8 boys dug more than 275 holes around the school yard and garden for our annual bulb planting activity. Each class blessed the bulbs before planting them. We expect to see the flowers in Spring 2012.

St. Francis Academy held the annual Fun Fair on September 30, 2011 and we would like to thank the Franciscan Sisters, the faculty and staff, the students, the volunteer parents, and the Parents’ Guild for organizing another memorable events and activities! On October 4, 2011 we honored our patron St. Francis on his feast day, by blessing the animals.
