Glory and Praise to our God.
Dear Parents,
Ready or not the academic year 2009-2010 is upon us. The relaxed pace of summer drifts away and the excitement and adventure of a new school year begins. Here at St. Francis Academy the faculty, staff, and administration have been industriously preparing for the return of our cherished students. The school building is immaculate, cheery bulletin boards line the corridors, and challenging lesson plans, intent upon stimulating and engaging young minds, are being prepared by our clever teachers. Hopefully all summer reading is completed and has proven to be pleasurable as well as instructive.
Recently a young mother of four traveled to Spring Lake for a day at the beach. As she frolicked in the surf with her younger girls she noticed her eleven year old son struggling a short distance away. She hurriedly swam to his side and both were caught in a riptide. The young boy quickly became exhausted and her sole focus was to keep his head above water. She was rapidly overcome by the waves, with her final bit of strength she forced their head above water and miraculously at her side appeared two lifeguards. She’d not seen them approaching so intent was she upon the well being of her child.
In the daily struggle of life many times we feel as if we are drowning. The floundering economy, job uncertainty, ill health can easily overwhelm even the most stoic of individuals. Like this brave mother your children come first and the sacrifices you make are truly profound. Thank you for choosing Catholic education and allowing St. Francis Academy to aid you in the spiritual, moral, and intellectual formation of your children. May the Lord bless you and your family. May you feel His presence at your side at every moment and may He, perhaps disguised as a lifeguard, hold you and your children close in His loving embrace.
Welcome back,
Deborah A. Savage
