The Jersey Journal’s 51st Hudson County Science Fair
Last Monday, March 23, 2009, the five winners of St. Francis Academy’s Science Fair 2008 represented our school in The Jersey Journal’s 51st Hudson County Science Fair at Liberty Science Center in Jersey City. Participants of this prestigious contest are from the different public and private schools from Grades 5-12. They were interviewed by at least 3 judges. After their projects had been judged, the students attended a 3D show in JD Williams Theater.
St. Francis Academy Participants:
- Joseph Simeone (Grade 8) – “The Dehydrative Effect of Alcohol in Your Body”
- Kayleen Sanchez (Grade 7) – “The Mind of a Parrot”
- Andrew Hernandez (Grade 6) – “Particulate Pollution … Where Is It Hiding?”
- Thomas Tyson III (Grade 6) – “Effect of Water Salinity and Temperature on an Oil Spill
- Brandon Perez (Grade 5) – “Does Caffeine Have an Effect on Human Blood Pressure?”

Winners will be announced at the April 1 awards ceremony at New Jersey City University. This contest is sponsored by The Jersey Journal.
