October 2008

Dear Parents,
Live for something. Do good, and leave behind you a monument of virtue that storms of time can never destroy. Write your name in kindnes, love and mercy on the hearts of thousands you come in contact with year by year, and you will never be forgotten. Your name and your good deeds will shine as the stars of heaven. (Thomas Chalmers) As I read this quote I thought of you, dear parents. Your ceaseless energy and integrity is surely what makes St. Francis Academy a very special school. The great success of our Ice Cream Social, Fun Fair, Barnes and Noble Sale, and Homecoming Mass and reception was made possible by your unstinting generosity. The children enjoy lunch days due to our large group of stalwart, smiling volunteer parents and grandparents. Our dedicated Guild Officers and class parents are busy preparing our largest fund raiser of the year, the Card Party. Without you and your determination St. Francis Academy could not have reached the milestone of a 50th Anniversary year.
As I visit the classrooms each day I see our dedicated sisters and faculty sharing their wisdom and your smiling children busy at prayer, work and play. I have been privileged this month to sing and dance with the Kindergarten, play Latitude – Longtitude Battleship with Grade 5, and to discuss the challenges high school will bring with our 8th Grade students. We have prayed the rosary, participated in Eucharistic Adoration on First Thursday, and celebrated the Eucharist together. The Blessing of the Animals on the Feast of St. Francis was a transcendent experience for all present.
Each day here at the Academy is truly filled with life and living dedicated to a higher purpose. The sacrifices you make to send your children to St. Francis Academy are worthwhile. When our lives here on earth are complete let us shine like the stars in heaven as we leave a superb legacy: the graduates of St. Francis Academy, your children.
Pax et Bonum,,
