“Your success and happiness lies in you. Resolve to keep happy, and your joy and you shall form an invincible host against difficulties.”
– Helen Keller
I hope you and your beautiful families had a lovely Christmas and New Year. I know Santa was very generous to our children, they’ve been regaling me with stories of their favorite gifts. The hoverboard seems to have been a huge hit and, of course, Barbie’s popularity never wanes.
We visited the Sisters in Tenafly during the Christmas break, they were so grateful for the magnificent floral arrangement for their chapel and for the monetary gift from our families. The Sisters wanted me to assure you that you are in their prayers each day. I know I speak for the faculty and staff when I express my thankfulness for your generosity to each of us during the Christmas Season and all year.
January is a busy month here at St. Francis Academy. We will have celebrated Three Kings Day on Tuesday and will continue our celebration of the Lord’s birth until the Baptism of the Lord on the 10th of January. Our lunch program will be serving Taquitos on Thursday. The children will love this addition to our menu. High School acceptances will soon arrive for our dear 8th Graders, we pray that the Lord will place them in schools which will nurture their growth and spirit. On January 30th we will kick off Catholic Schools Week with our wildly popular Pasta Dinner and Mass. We will continue the week with many exciting activities: Spelling Bee, Math Bee, Name That Character, Jeopardy, and our Open House. If any of your friends would like their children to attend SFA they must attend the Open House. Yet even this is not a guarantee of admission, for most of our classes are at full enrollment. The best advice you can give is that children enter our school in Pre – K3.
During this Year of Mercy let us listen to the wisdom of Our Holy Father Francis and show mercy and compassion to all. Forgiving others as we are forgiven. Help your children to be joyful, focused, responsible and happy making 2016 a banner year.
Blessings in this Happy New Year,
Ms. Deborah Savage
