For second consecutive year, SFA is running a coin drive for Hudson County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), which benefits foster children. Last year, we raised more than $5,000, and “as a result CASA was able to provide 202 birthday cakes for the children it serves“, according to Ms. Jeannine Ali.
This year, we hope to do the same or better. Read the rest of the post for more information…
Dear St. Francis Families,
As you may remember, last year we ran a coin drive for Hudson County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), a local non-profit organization that helps children in foster care. Through your generosity we raised in excess of $5,000! The money was earmarked for a “celebration” fund and as a result CASA was able to provide 202 birthday cakes for the children it serves. We cannot thank you enough for your generosity with this event. The kids in CASA care are truly the most at risk kids in Hudson County. In most cases they have been in the foster care system for many years and have very little to be excited about, and through your generosity, this past year 202 kids got to feel special on their birthdays. Something we may take for granted, but these kids do not!
This year we will be running another coin drive, through May 20th. The funds we raise this year will be used to send CASA kids to a variety of camps—day camps, sports camps, academic enrichment programs and sleepaway camp. This fund will provide these kids the opportunity to have something to look forward to this summer. The campaign will be called, CASA Kids Camp Coin Drive!
In order to introduce a little friendly St. Francis competition, we will be keeping track of the donations by grade. The grade that donates the most money will win a pizza party, including ice cream for dessert! The grades that come in second and third will be treated to ice cream. So make sure you send in all your loose change, because every penny counts!
Our family thanks you for your continued generosity and your help in providing these kids some fun this summer!
