February 2017

Dear Parents,

As I write to you on this Valentine’s Day it seems that we are emerging from the many illnesses and the wintery weather that consumed us during the beginning of February. The classrooms are again filled with our healthy children enjoying this wonderful day when we celebrate love of family and friends. The weather, we hope, will continue to behave. We don’t want any more snow days, but March, as we know, comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.

In early March the children will be taking their TerraNova test. It is very important that students are present during testing, so keep washing their hands and we will continue to Clorox the desks and doorknobs. Please do not put pressure on the children about the standardized testing, encourage them to stay focused and give their best effort. If they are working each day, reading and not spending excessive time on social media they will certainly reach their potential.

My desk is now covered with flowers, chocolate and cards, I’ve received an uncountable amount of hugs and kisses; we’ve celebrated three Valentine birthdays. Thank you, parents, for allowing me to spend Valentine’s Day with your beautiful children. Father Pedro Arrupe the 28th Superior General of the Jesuit Order wrote about love and I think his words truly reflect the charism and spirit for our school.

Nothing is more practical than finding God,
than falling in Love in a quite absolute, final way.
What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination,
will affect everything.
It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning,
what you do with your evenings,
how you spend your weekends,
what you read, whom you know,
what breaks your heart,
and what amazes you with joy and gratitude.
Fall in Love, stay in love,
and it will decide everything.
